Strengthening:Stabilization
Strength
training is essential to prevent aging, increase function
and decrease pain. The musculo-skeletal system requires
a basic level of strength and endurance in order to protect
itself from pain and injury. Muscles need a good supply of
blood and oxgyen in order to be maintained at peak performance.
Regular exercise maintains this blood supply and good posture.
Poor posture or
muscle spasms can deprive the cells and tissues in your muscles
of a good supply of blood and oxygen. Often muscles acting
on a joint are out of balance and therefore unstable. Various
one-sided activities (i.e. golf) can create muscle imbalances.
These unequal forces can make the joint weaker and more vulnerable,
which in return can cause pain or injury. We can develop a
specific program of stretching and strengthening exercises
to bring the muscles back into balance, creating stability
and better posture.
Strong core muscles are key to your body's stability, proper alignment and posture.
