After
sustaining a severe spinal cord injury in 1988, Kim
turned toward massage therapy to help build strength
and regain range of motion. Realizing the multiple benefits
of massage, Kim became passionate and driven to help others
in the same capacity.
A Licensed Massage Therapist since
1992, and a 1998 college graduate, holding a Bachelor
of Science in Physical Education, Kim has taught and
coached in several area schools and was also an instructor and the Director
of the Massage Therapy Program at Apollo College in Mesa.
Kim
has worked with athletes of all levels, including many
professional athletes, including the Phoenix Mercury.
In addition, Kim continues to provide private massage
and also works as a personal fitness trainer in the Phoenix
area. Enthusiastic and knowledgeable, Kim likes to educate her patients and clients and has proven
to be effective in helping many achieve their health
goals one touch at a time.
Kim
has been with Back In Motion since 2006 and utilizes many soft tissue techniques but is a nationally certified medical massage therapist specializing in orthopedic massage, sports, trigger point and deep tissue work. These techniques utilize slow strokes, direct pressure
or friction applied across the grain of the muscles
with the fingers, thumbs, elbows, forearms or chinese cups. This works
deeply into the muscles and connective tissues to release
chronic aches, scar tissue, adhesions, pain and injuries. Kim is also very knowledgable and certified in hot stone massage and reflexology.
