Balancing Chi

Acupuncture is the
utilization of very fine (Dr. Casper uses 36 gauge, sterile, solid stainless steel, disposable needles) expertly
inserted into the body at specific points (acupoints) along
energy pathways to alleviate pain (balance chi).
There are 14 energy pathways or meridians
with over 1,000 acupoints on the body. When vital energy (Chi)
becomes imbalanced, blocked or trapped, an effect in the body becomes
evident, usually in the form of pain, discomfort, pressure, inflammation, swelling or dysfunction.
Stimulation of key acupoints can help restore harmony/balance, by increasing blood flow to the area, releasing pain relieving endorphins and freeing trapped energy
to the affected area to, thereby alleviating pain, causing improved circulation and nervous system flow.
Most people are
usually amazed at how comfortable they are during a treatment.
The needles are very fine and flexible, no bigger around than
a piece of thread or fishing line. When the needle is inserted
into an acupoint it produces little or no sensation, most
people say “less than a mosquito bite.” When it
makes contact with Chi most experience a slight tingling
sensation, burning or heaviness that dulls and disappears.
Many people find acupuncture treatments so relaxing and comfortable,
they actually fall asleep.
An average treatment
takes 60 minutes and because each person’s health problems
and response to treatment are unique, the number and frequency
of treatments vary. Chronic problems generally require more
treatment than acute ones. Some people notice an immediate
improvement after the first treatment, whereas others may
not notice any effect until the eighth visit. Typically, the
recommendation is one to two treatments per week for four
to eight weeks.
If you are paying at time of service, your first visit is $100 and any subsequent
treatment is $50.
If
you have insurance we can check your coverage and benefits as these fees maybe reduced.
Please call our office with your insurance information. Please note that Medicare does not currently pay for acupuncture.
